The Year in Review

What a year! As we round off third term in the next few weeks, it's time to take out those timeturners and take a look back on the past year for the Harry Potter and Quidditch Society and some of our biggest moments.

Freshers' Week 2015

The term started off with a bang for HP&QSoc as we held a welcome picnic, Quidditch taster session, and the Welcome Banquet with RAG to meet incoming HP fans. With 253 members welcomed into the Society, things only got bigger and better from there.

Harry Potter Walking Tour

HP&QSoc took to the streets of Exeter to seek out the rumoured inspiration for the magical locations in Harry Potter. Over 200 students joined us as we visited Gandy Street, Exeter Castle, Exeter Cathedral and other staple spots in the city to relive some of the best moments of the series.

Sorting Ceremony Social

The first social of the year saw over 100 members get sorted into their Hogwarts Houses to start off the inter-house competition. HP&Q members took over John Gandy's for a night of magic and fun with the Society's signature game of Goblet of Fire (aka ring of fire).

ComicCon

HP&QSoc joined forces with Game of Thrones, Pokemon and Japanese Society to invade London ComicCon 2015. The fandom societies journeyed to London for a day of cosplay and everything nerdy.

Harry Potter and Game of Thrones does Halloween

HP&QSoc and GoTSoc once again collaborated to bring you the Deathday Halloween social! Members descended on Hole in the Wall dressed as their favourite dead characters to celebrate the creepiest night of the year. With the societies battling it out for house points, the inter-house competition continued.

Southern Cup

2015 saw Exeter Patronum's first official Quidditch tournament hosted in Oxford. With the smallest squad of the tournament, Exeter Patronum fought hard to secure their first competitive win against Cambridge Quidditch Club.

Yule Ball

As first term came to an end, HP&QSoc once again hosted the annual Yule Ball. Members and friends gathered in their best dress robes to celebrate the end of the term with a masquerade ball. Joined by Dancesport and Street Magic Societies, HP&QSoc rounded off 2015 in the most magical of styles.

Doss Cup

Exeter Patronum headed off to Bristol for the dossest tournament around. Taking on the Bristol Brizzlebees, the Flying Chaucers and Worcester Quidditch Club, the team fought their way to victory taking home the trophy from the first Doss Cup. #BleedGreen

Warner Bros. Studio Tour

What year in the Society would be complete without a visit to Leavesden Studios, the place where Harry Potter was brought to life. Members took a look behind the scenes of the Harry Potter films and emptied their Gringott's vaults in the tempting gift shop.

Whiteknights

Exeter Patronum headed off for their final tournament of the year in Reading. Now a well grounded team in the Quidditch community, Exeter Patronum played hard to get to the semi-finals of the lower bracket and ended the weekend without injury!

End of Year Feast

With exams done and dusted, HP&QSoc rounded off the year the only way they know how, with the End of Year Feast! We gathered one last time to say goodbye to our graduands with guest appearances from Wilbur, Luna and Cherish the owls, as well as a show stopping performance from the Sweet Nothings.

House Cup 2016

Ravenclaw clinch the House Cup with a narrow victory over Slytherin!

And that brings an end to another busy year for HP&QSoc. Rest up over the summer as next year will be even bigger!
