HOGWARTS HOUSES

FAQ

What does the Harry Potter & Quidditch Society do?

The Harry Potter Society holds regular social events based around the books and films. In the past we’ve held potion making classes, a Philosopher’s Stone social and a Horcrux hunt. Don’t forget the ever popular Sorting Ceremony social! We also plan annual trips to the Harry Potter Studios Tour and two formal events, the Yule Ball and End of Year Feast. We’ve also collaborated with other university societies to visit London Comic Con and a Fandoms Assemble event.

If you’re more the sporting type or just want to try something new, we have a Quidditch club for players of all levels. We love welcoming new players so please do come along and give the sport a go!

How can I join?

You’ll need to be a student at the University of Exeter to join the society. You can join the society at the Activities Fair at the university in September or at any time during the year via the Students’ Guild website. You can find the webpage here: https://my.exeterguild.com/groups/3R3MC/harry-potter-and-quidditch-society

How can I contact you?

You can message our Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/HPSocExeter/ or email our society inbox at harrypottersoc@groups.exeterguild.com.

How can I find out more about Society events?

If you are a member of the society, we send out regular emails with details for upcoming events. Alternatively you can follow us on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter where we post regular updates on the society’s events. You can find details of what's going on or how to get in touch on the Contact and Events pages.

How can I get involved?

The main way to get involved is to come to our events, they’re great fun! We often run a prefect scheme depending on interest if you would like an insight into the role and activities of the committee. At the end of second term, we hold our Annual General Meeting where we elect our new committee for the next year. Follow our social media pages for details on how to run for a position.

How much is it to join?

This is entirely down to the committee in a particular year. Best port of call is to check on our Exeter Guild page (Link under How can I join?). Memberships last for the remainder of the academic year.

Do you sort members into houses?

Yes we do! At the start of the year, we hold our annual Sorting Ceremony social where you can meet other members and get sorted. We have a specially crafted quiz to help us sort you into your true house!

Can I choose my own house?

Yes you can! If you’ve already been sorted or have a particular affinity with a house, you are more than welcome to choose.
